Welcome to my website. I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. My teaching and research focus on transnational political thought in the Americas, democratic theory, the politics of race and indigeneity, and political theories of empire and colonialism. My first book is Empire of the People: Settler Colonialism and the Foundations of Modern Democratic Thought (University Press of Kansas, 2018), which examines the constitutive role of settler colonialism in the historical construction of democratic thought in the Americas. Specifically, it traces how settler colonial ideologies of indigenous disavowal underpinned foundational norms of modern democratic legitimacy. On this site you can find information related to my teaching and current research. Thanks for visiting.
